Social Media Videos
durations vary
Occasionally, I create short videos specifically for distribution on social media platforms. They may be sketches for more elaborate projects, fragments of longer planned works, or standalone pieces that will remain just as they are.

I do have concerns about producing work for social media, primarily in relation to the extraction of resources through our engagement. However, for now, I am utilizing it to see if I can connect with people whom I would otherwise never reach.

The King's Tribute
Audiocinema, 40:00
I use the term "audiocinema" to describe this piece because its highly-developed sound image is intended to provoke a cinematic experience, without visual elements. In other words, I tried to create an aural film, something that goes beyond typical audio storytelling.

Starting with a story I wrote, based on the legend of Perillos and the tyrant king of Akragas (an ancient Greek colony on Sicily), I composed a score to accompany my reading. The music acts as a secondary narrator, expressing the unspoken and sometimes unspeakable parts of the story. These elements work together to create "audiocinema."

The Crash, or A Patch of Gravity
a film by Chele Isaac & Jack Kellogg, 15:00
Chele Isaac is an artist & filmmaker based in Madison, Wisconsin and my long-time collaborator, having worked with me in various ways since we were students together. In 2019, we made this short film, fusing both our sensibilities into something that neither of us would have created independently.

A wobbly and unstable humor perfumes the piece, offsetting the pervasive sense of dread and foreboding throughout. Were we presaging the global pandemic just waiting in the wings, or pre-grieving the loss of a species in some unnamed upheaval?

About Jack Kellogg
Born in the backseat of a Bangkok rickshaw, Jack Kellogg was raised by cliff swallows in a humble, one-room nest on the island of Gibraltar, where he spent his childhood developing extraordinary singing and climbing skills. At 17, he traveled to the United States as a featured member of Cirque du Sommalier, a short-lived wine tasting/cliff scaling burlesque show that, at the time of its insolvency, abandoned the performers in the salt flats of Utah.

Subsisting on scrubgrass and airborne insects, Jack wandered throughout the American West for 40 years, searching for a land of promise where he could settle. During this time, a snow owl dropped a pamphlet from The Institute of Higher Processes in his path, leading to a fundamental shift in his life and vocation.

With the help of the IHP, Jack's focus turned to the Creation of Art, the Exploration of Ideas, and the Enactment of Systemic Change. He now lives in Brooklyn, NY in a humble, one-room nest that he shares with a mourning dove.
